HTC Hero Voice Seach
So…. Google Voice search is not available on the Meteors Hero ( and alot more networks/phones) for whatever reason. Google says “Voice Actions requires Android 2.2 (Froyo) and higher”. I beg to differ…

The wait is over….Android 2.1 is currently available to download on all Meteor Heros.
If your phone doesnt notify you, just check the system software under About Phone.
Make sure u have at least 30% battery remaining.

For those looking to get the latest update for meteors Hero theres a simple way to “force” the download.
Go to clock hit the menu key and you can see the option to set the date. If it is grayed out then just unclick the first option of AUTOMATIC.

Preliminary update for European Android 2.1 on HTC Hero released
The proomised Android 2.1 for european Heros is underway. As HTC previosuly said , it would release a small update just before the upgrade to Android 2.1 is available. This enables 1.5 to be upgraded to 2.1 but HTC just says the following

Android 2.1 for Hero confirmed for today Jun 4th…..or is it? Update-Released in Taiwan
Aparently 2.1 is being issued today from HTC according to HTC’s Plurk account, the Android 2.1 upgrade for the GSM HTC Hero will start hitting handsets today.
Theres so many of thes “confirmed releases” that we dont get excited anymore. Especially since HTC Europe replied to our questions this morning with the following :
